Located in Artane, this park was developed from the public open space provisions of the Whitethorn, Thorndale and Elm Mount estates. Work started on the park in 1981 and the park derives its name from the old quarry excavations on the site. The photograph below shows the then Lord Mayor Michael O’Halloran and other politicians of the time at the opening of the park in 1984.
The park consists of 7.2 hectares with a 1.8km boundary. The survey included land and building and included the tennis courts and areas for rejuvenation.
